About The Author |
Jeff Goldsmith is president of Health Futures Inc. and associate professor of medical education in the College of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He has taught health policy and management at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and other leading universities. Mr. Goldsmith received his doctorate in sociology from the Universityof Chicago in 1973. He worked for the governor of Illinois as a policy analyst and the dean of the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago, where he was responsible for planning and government affairs for the Medical Center.
Mr. Goldsmith is a member of the board of directors of the Cerner Corporation, a healthcare informatics firm and the Essent Healthcare, an investor-owned hospital management company, and he is a member of the board of advisors of the Burrill Life Sciences Capital Fund, which invests in biotechnology innovation. He is also advisor to Cain Brothers, an investment banking firm that work exclusively in healthcare.
