About The Author

Dennis D. Pointer in the principal of Dennis D.Pointer & Associates, which has provided gevernance consultation and development services to more than three hundred health care organizations, nonprofits, governmental agencies and commercial corporations.  He has written eleven books and articles, including Really Governing and Board Works which were winners of the American College of Healthcare Book of the Year Award.  He is also author of Navigating the Boardroom which was printied in 2008.  Dr. Pointer held the John J. Hanlon Chair of Health Care Research and Policy in the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State Universit.  He currently is a Virginia Mason Professor in the Department of Health Administration, School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Stephen J. Williams is a consultant to numerous health care organizations, associations, and governmental agencies.  Dr. Williams is Professor of Public Health and Head of the Division of Health Services Administration in the Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University.
